Oberleutnant Gustav Friedrich Luden was an Afrika Korps officer serving under Hauptmann Hans Dietrich. Before coming to Africa, he'd served as a member of the Hitler Youth. Disillusioned with Nazism, he leaked information about important German transports to the Allies, acts which got him arrested by the SS. The Rat Patrol was assigned to rescue him. He was put into a Mercedes staff car by Standartenführer Krieg and Untersturmführer Durst, but rescued by Moffitt.
