Leutnant Koss was an Afrika Korps officer serving under Oberst von Bracht. He was a psychopath who enjoyed torturing prisoners. He was known to sing while he tortured people, and their pain amused him, causing him to laugh hysterically. He captured Sergeant Sam Troy and Private Mark Hitchcock and brought them to von Bracht's headquarters. When Troy and Hitchcock refused to make a radio broadcast von Bracht wanted, he threatened to hand them over to Koss for "persuasion." During the Rat Patrol's escape from von Bracht's camp, he was knocked out by Moffitt and Hitchcock. As the Rats escaped with a captured von Bracht, Koss woke up and ran after them, firing his Walther P38. Hitchcock fired back, killing him.
