Standartenführer Prall is a Sicherheitsdienst officer serving in Berlin. He tasked Inspector Escherich with finding the source of postcards, which were being left, denouncing Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. Because of his lack of progress, Escherich is beaten up by Prall and forced to summarily execute a man whom he is certain has no connection with these subversive postcards.
