Obersturmführer Rachtmann was an SS Officer stationed in Prussia. He and his troops captured four Allied agents: Capt. Evan Blackburn, Theodore Dixon, Clarence Edward, and Robert Sites. Rachtmann questioned them, and Blackburn told him that they were delivering medical supplies from the Red Cross, and that they were heading to a P.O.W. Camp. Rachtmann also had two Soviet prisoners, Bear and Viktor. Later, two Soviet GRU agents, Major Aleksandr Kulkov and Yevgeny Tolstoy arrived disguised as SS Officers. Kulkov pretended to be a Sturmbannführer and questioned the allies, and secretly gave his pistol to Blackburn. Rachtmann then ordered Bear, Viktor, and Clarence Edward, to be executed. Kulkov and Tolstoy gunned down all of the SS Troops and Rachtmann.
